BLM and Christianity

Updated: Jun 30, 2020

I've thought for a while now about this post on the "Black Lives Matter" movement and what the Christian position should be regarding that. It's not that the answer is somehow elusive (it is quite clear), but rather that some people get instantly emotional about this while disregarding the truth of the matter. As Christians we should be very concerned about the truth so that we aren't swayed by every media demand to jump up and down over alleged "social injustices."

I found it extremely disappointing to see several Orange County churches jumping on the virtue-signalling bandwagon to support BLM with their black squares on social media.

Virtue signalling: "Ostensibly advocating a political or philosophical position, and/or taking up a public cause, from a position of vanity, for the primary purpose of demonstrating your conformity with left-wing propaganda and fashionable pop culture values."

Let's look at several of the numerous reasons why supporting BLM is an anti-Christian thing to do.

For starters, this whole thing was completely contrived (just like the BLM riots in 2016, coincidentally another election year) by the media over the death of a violent career criminal and drug addict George Floyd. George died from cardiac arrest related to the multiple heavy narcotics in his system after resisting arrest and being restrained by the police officer.

Somehow (thanks to the media) this became about race and it was magically widely assumed that the police officer maliciously murdered George simply because George was black. It's truly astonishing how wildly the media can lie and get away with it.

BLM is Anti-Christian

Moving on, BLM supports things that are directly against Biblical teachings. For starters, they are against law and order (see 1 John 3:4) and they support sexual deviancy (see 1 Corinthians ch. 6). They believe in communist ideals and the destruction of the family unit as defined and established clearly in Scripture (Colossians 3:18-21). They also support the murder of unborn babies.

This is all plain to see on their website which I won't link to. BLM supports the murder of police officers, and the destructive rioting that causes untold millions in damage, as well as violent attacks on people that aren't rioting with them. The videos on social media have honestly been hard to watch.

Recently, a BLM leader said if the US "doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system." Which, by the way, fits perfectly the definition of terrorism. If you're wondering if this article is out of line someway, just ask yourself if Christians should support terrorism.

BLM's mere existence is intended to create racial division. If you hate racism, you should condemn BLM as the most violently hateful racist mob in America. Their whole premise is a lie, which states that black people are targeted by "state-sanctioned" violence against them. As expected, the statistics tell a much different story. Black radio host and commentator Larry Elder pointed out (among many others) that police show more restraint against black criminals than white ones!

This is why fake churches with false teachers must be exposed (Ephesians 5:11) and rebuked (Titus 1:13), such as "Zion church" in San Clemente. Their "pastor" led a BLM march in San Clemente to jump on the virtue signalling bandwagon while leading their small following astray.

Much more could be said about this topic, but I've tried to keep it short. As Christians, we need to seek the truth and stay grounded in the Word of God. It is not our job to virtue signal with every manufactured hysteria we see from the godless left-wing media, it is our job to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
